Close checklist
- Apply the cut-off. Contract changes effective after month end belong to the next month, even if entered earlier.
- Load the month’s exchange rates for every billing currency.
- Clear data warnings: missing or stale rates, renewals past their end date, trials past their end date.
- Review the bridge and the largest movements by customer. Each should trace to a contract change.
- Confirm that opening MRR equals the prior month’s reported closing MRR.
- Close the month and issue the pack.
Preparer and reviewer
Assign a preparer and a reviewer. The preparer clears warnings and explains the largest movements; the reviewer traces the bridge to source contracts and to the prior close, then closes the month.
Timing
Close metrics on a fixed working day after month end, once contract changes for the month have been entered and the month’s exchange rates are available.
Changes after close
Contracts are backdated: an upgrade signed late, a cancellation entered after the fact. Keep the reported figure, show the revised figure beside it, and carry the difference as a restatement in multi-month bridges. When the revision is accepted and the month closed again, record the original figure and the restatement in the notes.
How Revnewed calculates it
Owners and admins close a completed month. The full month report is stored as reported, and every screen shows the closed figures for that month.
If live data later differs, the month is flagged with both figures, and bridges spanning several months show the gap as a restatement line. Closing again replaces the stored report.
Missing and stale rates, overdue renewals and trials past their end date are listed as data warnings.
Common misstatements
- Closing before rates are loaded
- A stale rate becomes part of the reported figure.
- Editing the workbook after the meeting
- The next pack then opens from a figure nobody presented.
- No named reviewer
- Without sign-off, the month is never closed in substance.
